Initially, when Jan started into this sport, it was just to enjoy the dogs and get out into the
wilderness in peaceful silence and bond with the dogs.  Eventually, her friends convinced
her to enter a race for the fun of it.  She did and it's been fun ever since.

Jan was quite competitive when she was younger but she has since discovered that the
journey is far more important than the end.  So, with that in mind, although she isn't
disappointed when she places well, the journey of getting out there with the dogs is
primary in her heart and it's most important to her that the dogs enjoy what we're doing
and that she enjoys it as well.  That's why she has not entered every race out there or a
race every year.  She does not push the dogs as hard as she could, but they sure all have a
great time out there.
